How this list is ranked

Parks are ranked by annual attendance, the one figure that is reported in the same way for parks of every kind and size. Each row shows the year of the figure. The figures come from Wikidata (property P1174), which collects them from operators and industry reports. Only figures from 2023 or later are used. Closed parks and parks still under construction are left out, and so are parks that do not pass this guide's selection threshold.

What attendance does and does not tell you

• It measures popularity, not quality: a park next to resort hotels, or one with cheap or free entry in a city centre, draws more visits than a remote park of the same standard.
• Parks open all year naturally count more visits than seasonal parks; water parks have the shortest seasons.
• Some countries, China in particular, publish few figures, so large parks can be missing.
• For choosing a park for your trip, the destination pages and each park's card (who it suits, how long it takes, season) are more useful than this ranking.
